Scaling up automated demand response with TATA Power

We are scaling up our work on automated demand response in India, in collaboration with TATA Power and facilitated by the International Growth Centre (IGC).

Building on the POWBAL Tata trial, the new PAUSE Demand project — Plug adoption and use for smarter energy demand — examines the factors influencing the widespread adoption and use of remote-managed smart energy technologies. The aim is to understand how demand flexibility can support India’s energy transition by reducing peak-time consumption from energy-intensive appliances such as air conditioning.

The project brings together Shefali Khanna (LSE), Teevrat Garg (UC San Diego), Ralf Martin (Imperial College London), Zeynep Gurguc and Nilesh Kane (TATA Power).
